Ask for the stop in advance

Our drivers are happy to build a meal stop into the drive, but it is easier if we know before the day. Mention it at booking and the pickup time is planned around it.

Two options on the highway

  • Lebanese. A well-established Middle Eastern restaurant directly on the highway, good for a proper sit-down meal rather than a snack.
  • Traditional Dominican. A local restaurant close to the entrance of La Romana Casa de Campo airport, and the better choice if you want your first meal in the country to taste like the country.

Your driver will know both and can tell you which is open at your arrival hour.

Which airport should you fly into?

Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa — the property published as Hilton La Romana until it reverted to the Dreams brand, with Secrets La Romana as its adults-only side — works from either Punta Cana (PUJ) or Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ), and the decision usually comes down to airfare and schedule. There is also La Romana itself (LRM), the closest airport, with far fewer flights — see our La Romana airport transfers page.

Because the resort sits between the two big airports, you are within reach of both Punta Cana and Santo Domingo for a day trip. The colonial city is a genuinely worthwhile one — our Santo Domingo transfers page covers that side.

Is the road safe?

Yes. It is a newer highway, well maintained, with security posts at intervals along the route. Our drivers run it daily in both directions.

Getting to Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa: which airport

Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa sits on the Bayahibe coast west of Punta Cana, near La Romana. Punta Cana International (PUJ) is the primary gateway and the airport most guests use. Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ) is the alternative with a wider flight spread, and La Romana (LRM) itself is the closest airport although it handles far fewer flights. We run the transfer as a single private vehicle from either one, so the decision is usually about flight schedules and fares rather than logistics. Route detail for the area is on our La Romana airport (LRM) transfers page. If you are still choosing flights, our guide to choosing an airport for Hilton La Romana and Bayahibe covers the trade-offs.

Typical driving time to the Bayahibe / Dominicus zone, where the resort sits: about 58 min from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) (71 km) · 94 min from Santo Domingo (SDQ) (121 km) · 31 min from La Romana (LRM) (26 km) · 190 min from Samaná El Catey (AZS) (236 km). These are zone-level figures for the whole Bayahibe / Dominicus dispatch zone rather than one property — every resort on this coast dispatches from the same routing row. Google Maps routing computed August 2026, and actual times vary with traffic. Driving estimates exclude immigration, baggage claim and hotel check-in.

Your arrival day at Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa

We take your flight number at booking and monitor the flight, so your pickup follows the arrival that actually happens. Your chauffeur is waiting inside the arrivals hall with a tablet showing your name, helps with the luggage, and there is cold bottled water in the vehicle. From there it is one direct drive to the resort lobby. You also have two hours of free waiting time after landing, which covers a slow immigration hall or a late bag.

Ride-hailing is not a fallback here: pickup by app-based cars at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) is restricted, which is why a pre-booked transfer is the reliable arrangement — the detail is in can I take an Uber at Punta Cana airport.

Bayahibe village and the Bayahibe beaches are the public landmarks on this coast.

Leaving Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa: your departure pickup

Our dispatch schedules the return pickup around your departure flight and keeps watching it for changes. Before the pickup we reconfirm the details with you — passenger count, luggage and the exact meeting point at the resort — so the vehicle that arrives is the right size for what you are travelling home with. If your flight time moves, the pickup moves with it; we do not hold you to a fixed hour set weeks earlier.

Questions

Which airport should I fly into for Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa?
Punta Cana International (PUJ) is the primary gateway and what most guests book. Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ) is the alternative with a wider flight spread, and La Romana (LRM) itself is the closest airport although it handles far fewer flights. We operate private transfers to Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa from either, so choose on flight schedule and fare. Typical driving time to the Bayahibe / Dominicus zone is about 58 minutes from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) against about 94 minutes from Santo Domingo (SDQ) — zone-level figures for the whole Bayahibe / Dominicus dispatch zone rather than one property, computed August 2026, and actual times vary with traffic. Driving estimates exclude immigration, baggage claim and hotel check-in.
How will my driver find me at the airport?
Your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands in, holding a welcome tablet with your name on it. You walk straight to the vehicle reserved for your transfer to Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa — there is nothing to arrange at the curb.
Is Uber available for Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa?
Not reliably. Ride-hailing pickup at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) is restricted, so you cannot count on hailing a car when you land — and no app-based ride comes with flight monitoring or a meet inside the terminal. A pre-booked private transfer is the dependable option, and our article on taking an Uber at Punta Cana airport explains the restriction in full.
Can we stop at a supermarket or pharmacy on the way?
Yes, on request. Tell us when you book, or tell your chauffeur on the day, and we build the stop into the transfer.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We monitor your flight and move the pickup to the real arrival time, and you have two hours of free waiting time after landing. There is nothing to call in or rearrange.
Can I add VIP Fast Track?
Yes. VIP Fast Track can be added to the same arrival so you skip the immigration and customs queues, and your chauffeur meets you at the private exit.
