Our drivers are happy to build a meal stop into the drive, but it is easier if we know before the day. Mention it at booking and the pickup time is planned around it.
Two options on the highway
- Lebanese. A well-established Middle Eastern restaurant directly on the highway, good for a proper sit-down meal rather than a snack.
- Traditional Dominican. A local restaurant close to the entrance of La Romana Casa de Campo airport, and the better choice if you want your first meal in the country to taste like the country.
Your driver will know both and can tell you which is open at your arrival hour.
Which airport should you fly into?
Hilton La Romana works from either Punta Cana (PUJ) or Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ), and the decision usually comes down to airfare and schedule. There is also La Romana itself (LRM), the closest airport, with far fewer flights — see our La Romana airport transfers page.
Because the resort sits between the two big airports, you are within reach of both Punta Cana and Santo Domingo for a day trip. The colonial city is a genuinely worthwhile one — our Santo Domingo transfers page covers that side.
Is the road safe?
Yes. It is a newer highway, well maintained, with security posts at intervals along the route. Our drivers run it daily in both directions.
Getting to Hilton La Romana: which airport
Hilton La Romana sits on the Bayahibe coast west of Punta Cana, near La Romana. Punta Cana International (PUJ) is the primary gateway and the airport most guests use. Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ) is the alternative with a wider flight spread, and La Romana (LRM) itself is the closest airport although it handles far fewer flights. We run the transfer as a single private vehicle from either one, so the decision is usually about flight schedules and fares rather than logistics. Your arrival day at Hilton La Romana
We take your flight number at booking and monitor the flight, so your pickup follows the arrival that actually happens. Your chauffeur is waiting inside the arrivals hall with a tablet showing your name, helps with the luggage, and there is cold bottled water in the vehicle. From there it is one direct drive to the resort lobby. You also have two hours of free waiting time after landing, which covers a slow immigration hall or a late bag.

Leaving Hilton La Romana: your departure pickup
Our dispatch schedules the return pickup around your departure flight and keeps watching it for changes. Before the pickup we reconfirm the details with you — passenger count, luggage and the exact meeting point at the resort — so the vehicle that arrives is the right size for what you are travelling home with. If your flight time moves, the pickup moves with it; we do not hold you to a fixed hour set weeks earlier.
