Puerto Plata Private Transportation

Puerto Plata is the original Dominican resort coast: an amber-mining town with a Victorian centre, a cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres, and a strip of hotel complexes — Playa Dorada, Costa Dorada, Cofresí — spread either side of it. Getting around here is a driving matter: the hotels sit apart from town, and the coastal highway is the spine that connects everything.

We serve the whole area with private transfers only: the vehicle is exclusively yours, your inbound flight is monitored so the pickup follows your real arrival, and your chauffeur meets you at a confirmed meeting point inside the terminal. No shared shuttle, no stops at other resorts, one fixed quote confirmed before you pay. Travelers rate us #1 for transportation in the Dominican Republic on Tripadvisor.

What Puerto Plata actually is

Puerto Plata is the north coast's anchor city: a Victorian town centre, the amber trade, the Fortaleza San Felipe on the water, and the cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres — with the Playa Dorada, Costa Dorada and Cofresí hotel complexes spread either side.

The hotels sit apart from the town and from each other, so the coastal highway is the spine of every stay here and arrivals, excursions and departures are all driving matters.

Which airport should you fly into for Puerto Plata?

Puerto Plata's own airport, Gregorio Luperón (POP), is the closest by a wide margin and the simplest arrival when a convenient flight exists. The honest caveat is that POP's schedule is limited, so the flight you actually want may not be there.

When it isn't, Santiago's Cibao International (STI) is the north coast's working gateway: broader connectivity, and one direct private drive over the mountain road to the coast. Santo Domingo (SDQ) is the fallback when neither works. We cover all three the same way, so choose the flight that suits your itinerary and let us handle the airport it lands at.

Puerto Plata — questions

Do you serve Playa Dorada hotels directly?
Yes. Every hotel entrance inside the Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada complexes is served directly, because the transfer is private and makes no other stops.
Can we book transportation while we are already in Puerto Plata?
Yes. Point-to-point trips and private chauffeur service by the hour are both available once you are on the coast, with the same fixed quote confirmed before payment.
Is a private transfer better than a taxi from the airport?
It is a different product: the vehicle and chauffeur are assigned to you in advance, your flight is monitored, and the price is fixed and confirmed before you travel, so there is nothing to negotiate on arrival.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
March, July and August are the driest months in Puerto Plata on the 1995–2024 averages, with July seeing about 25 mm of rain across roughly 4 wet days. May and October are the wettest. Temperatures barely move: average highs sit between 72 and 88°F all year, so the month you pick changes rainfall, not warmth.
