Golf courses in the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana: airports, access and seasonal planning

Most Dominican golf is in two places: the Punta Cana coast, where Cap Cana, Puntacana Resort and the Bávaro resort courses sit minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), and Casa de Campo near La Romana (LRM), whose courses are now reserved for registered resort guests, owners and residents. Santo Domingo (SDQ), Juan Dolio, Santiago (STI), Puerto Plata (POP) and the Playa Grande coast make up the rest. This page lists all thirty courses by region, states who may play in each operator's own words, and gives the nearest airport with a planning drive time from our dispatch matrix, so you can book the stay, the flight and the ground transport in the right order.

30 courses in 8 regions · facts checked 2 October 2026 · drive times from Transekur's dispatch matrix · weather from 1995–2024 climate normals

Eight golf areas, each with its own airport logic. The approach times are our dispatch matrix's zone-to-zone planning figures, not door-to-door times.

Cap Cana

The gated Cap Cana community south of Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).

Cap Cana is the gated community directly south of Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). Punta Espada, its Jack Nicklaus Signature course, is the shortest airport-to-course run on this page, and the club's site states that eight holes play along or over the sea.

The Cap Cana resorts — Secrets Cap Cana, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana, Sanctuary Cap Cana, Eden Roc, TRS Cap Cana and The St. Regis Cap Cana — sit inside the same gates, so a golf stay here involves no highway driving at all.

Punta Cana and Bávaro

Puntacana Resort & Club beside the airport, the Bávaro and Arena Gorda resort strip, Cabeza de Toro and Verón.

Ten courses in three pockets. Puntacana Resort & Club, beside the airport, holds Corales (Tom Fazio; members, resort guests and eligible visitors) and the 27-hole La Cana (P.B. Dye; caddies mandatory). The Bávaro and Arena Gorda strip has the resort courses: Cocotal with 27 holes, Iberostar Bávaro, The Lakes at Barceló Bávaro, the Jack Nicklaus course at Hard Rock's Cana Bay and Punta Blanca by Nick Price.

Cabeza de Toro, between Punta Cana and Bávaro, has Catalonia Caribe and the Catalonia executive nine; Vistacana in Verón is a lit par-3 nine for play after dark. Resort courses often include or discount green fees for their own guests — the table states what each operator says.

10 courses: Corales Golf Course, La Cana Golf Club, Cocotal Golf & Country Club, Punta Blanca Golf Club, Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club, Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay, The Lakes Golf Course (Barceló Bávaro), Catalonia Caribe Golf Club, Catalonia Cabeza de Toro Executive, Vistacana Golf Club

La Romana and Bayahíbe

Casa de Campo and the La Romana coast, with Playa Nueva Romana to the west on the San Pedro de Macorís side.

Casa de Campo carries Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and The Links, all by Pete Dye, but the resort states that tee times are available exclusively to registered resort guests, villa owners, residents and their accompanying friends, and that it cannot accommodate outside play. Plan a Casa de Campo golf trip as a Casa de Campo stay. La Romana Country Club, inside the same resort, is a members' club.

La Estancia, on the road from La Romana toward Bayahíbe, publishes visitor rates; PGA Ocean's 4 at Playa Nueva Romana, west of La Romana on the San Pedro de Macorís side, sells tee times to visitors and adds an executive nine. The Bayahíbe and Dominicus resorts have no course of their own, so golfers staying there drive to Casa de Campo or La Estancia.

Juan Dolio and San Pedro de Macorís

The Juan Dolio beach town east of Santo Domingo.

Juan Dolio is the beach town east of Santo Domingo and the golf area closest by road to Las Américas (SDQ). It has two 18-hole courses, Guavaberry Golf & Country Club and Los Marlins, which also goes by the Metro Country Club name.

Guavaberry's website could not be read when this page was checked, so its holes, par, designer and access stay blank until it can be.

Santo Domingo

The capital and its northern and western outskirts.

The capital has a members' country club with 27 holes (Santo Domingo Country Club), the par-3 nine at Isabel Villas, Cayacoa on the Duarte highway north-west of the city, where the club states members and visitors are welcome, and Vistas Golf & Country Club in the hills of Santo Domingo Norte, opened in 2021.

Commercial flights use Las Américas (SDQ) east of the city; private aircraft use La Isabela (JBQ) on the north side, for which our dispatch matrix holds no drive-time row.

Santiago, Jarabacoa and Bonao

Santiago de los Caballeros in the Cibao valley and the mountain towns of Jarabacoa and Bonao.

Santiago de los Caballeros has Las Aromas, also known as Santiago Golf Club, whose website blocks automated reading — its details are not published here until they can be checked. In the Cordillera Central, Jarabacoa Golf Club is a cool-climate mountain course and Bella Vista in Bonao is a short par-3 nine, built for a mining company's executives in 1977 according to the directory that lists it.

Cibao International (STI) serves all three; Jarabacoa and Bonao are also reached from Santo Domingo by the Duarte highway.

Puerto Plata

Playa Dorada and Costambar, on the north coast beside Puerto Plata city.

Playa Dorada's Robert Trent Jones Sr. course wraps around the Playa Dorada hotel complex and is open to members and visitors all year; Los Mangos in Costambar is an executive nine among mango trees that states non-members may play.

Gregorio Luperón (POP) is the local airport. Cibao (STI), inland at Santiago, is the alternative when POP has no suitable flight.

Playa Grande, on the cliffs between Río San Juan and Cabrera, is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design later refined by his son Rees Jones, with ten holes above the Atlantic. Access is arranged on request through Amanera, subject to availability, and the course closes for summer works in some years — check dates before you fly.

Samaná El Catey (AZS) is the nearest airport by road in our matrix, with Puerto Plata (POP) and Santiago (STI) as the alternatives when AZS has no suitable flight.

Airport to golf area: planning drive times

These are the planning figures our dispatch team works from. They run from the airport's zone reference point to the golf area's reference point, so they are area-level estimates, not door-to-door times — and they are published only in the arrival direction a golfer actually drives.

Planning figures from Transekur's own dispatch matrix, measured between zone reference points and recalculated 31 August 2026. They are not terminal-to-clubhouse times and not a quoted transfer duration: immigration, baggage, resort gates and traffic sit on top. Your confirmed booking carries the time for your exact pickup and drop-off.

Getting golfers and equipment between airports and courses

Transekur sells the ground transportation, not the tee time. A golf transfer is a private, flight-tracked airport pickup with the vehicle class sized to your party and your bags, and the same vehicle can come back for the departure or stay with you between courses.

Arrivals with clubs

We watch the inbound flight and meet you at the terminal exit with your name on a tablet. Tell us how many golf bags travel with you when you book: the vehicle class is assigned to passengers and luggage together, and our reservations team confirms the class that fits your party and your bags.

Vehicle classes and capacities

Multi-course days

For a round at one club and dinner or a second round at another, book the private chauffeur service by the hour: the vehicle and chauffeur stay with you for the booked period instead of running two separate transfers.

Private chauffeur service

Golf groups and societies

A group travels better in one vehicle than in a convoy: the Mercedes Sprinter carries 16 passengers and the large bus 50, and golf bags are counted at booking. Tell us the head count and whether everyone lands on the same flight.

Group and event transportation

At Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ), VIP Fast Track escorts you through the priority lanes on arrival — useful when the first tee time is the morning after a late landing. VIP Fast Track.

Access rules and tee times

Dominican courses fall into four access patterns, and the pattern decides where you should stay before it decides where you play. The table carries each operator's own statement; here is how to read it.

Registered resort guests, owners and residents only
Casa de Campo's three courses. The resort states it cannot accommodate outside play, so Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and The Links require a Casa de Campo stay or ownership.
Members, resort guests and eligible visitors
Puntacana Resort & Club's Corales and La Cana: members and their guests first, resort hotel guests through golf plans, and the resort states that outside players can book rounds. Confirm the terms with the resort before you fix the dates.
Tee times bookable
Courses whose own page offers tee-time booking without a stated restriction — Punta Espada, the Bávaro resort courses, La Estancia, PGA Ocean's 4, Cayacoa, Playa Dorada, Los Mangos. Resort courses may still give their own guests included or discounted green fees.
Members' clubs and on-request courses
La Romana Country Club, Santo Domingo Country Club and Isabel Villas are membership clubs; Playa Grande is arranged on request through Amanera. Ask the club, or your hotel concierge, before you build a trip around them.

Transekur does not sell tee times, golf packages or green fees, and nothing on this page is a confirmation of availability. What we confirm is the drive: the vehicle, the chauffeur and the pickup time around your flight.

Frequently asked questions

Which airport do I fly into for golf in Punta Cana?
Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). In our dispatch matrix the Cap Cana and Puntacana Resort courses are about 16 min from the airport zone and the Bávaro resort courses about 45 min, measured between zone reference points. La Romana (LRM) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) are the fallbacks when PUJ fares or schedules do not work.
Can visitors play Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo?
Not as outside players. Casa de Campo states that tee times at all its courses are available exclusively to registered resort guests, villa owners, residents and their accompanying friends, and that it cannot accommodate outside play. To play Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore or The Links, stay at the resort.
Which Punta Cana and Bávaro courses sell tee times to visitors?
On their own pages, Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club, The Lakes Golf Course (Barceló Bávaro), Catalonia Caribe Golf Club, Catalonia Cabeza de Toro Executive, Vistacana Golf Club offer tee-time booking without a stated restriction. Corales and La Cana at Puntacana Resort serve members and resort guests first, with rounds for outside players by arrangement. Cocotal, Punta Blanca and Hard Rock's Cana Bay list contacts only, so confirm with the club.
How long is the drive from Punta Cana airport to Casa de Campo for golf?
About 1 h 2 min in our dispatch matrix, measured between zone reference points without traffic. From La Romana International Airport (LRM) the same area is about 23 min, which is why LRM is the first choice for a Casa de Campo stay when a flight fits.
When is the best time of year for golf weather in the Dominican Republic?
On the 1995–2024 climate normals, January, February and March are the driest months in Cap Cana and January, February and March in Casa de Campo. Temperatures barely move through the year, so the month you choose changes rainfall and wet days, not warmth. The weather guide has all twelve months for each destination.
Does Transekur sell tee times or golf packages?
No. We provide private ground transportation: flight-tracked airport transfers, hourly chauffeur service between courses and group vehicles for golf parties. Tee times, green fees and packages are booked with each club or resort; this page tells you what each operator states about access so you can book in the right order.
Will my golf bags fit in the vehicle?
Tell us how many golf bags travel with you when you book. The vehicle class is assigned to passengers and luggage together: the fleet page lists each class with its passenger and suitcase capacity, and our reservations team confirms the class that fits your party and bags before the trip is confirmed.
Which airport serves Playa Grande?
Samaná El Catey (AZS) is the nearest by road in our matrix, about 1 h 31 min to the Río San Juan–Cabrera zone; Puerto Plata (POP) is about 2 h 13 min. AZS can have a thin or seasonal flight schedule, so compare both before booking. Golf at Playa Grande is arranged on request through Amanera, subject to availability.
Is there a map of the courses?
Not yet. None of the thirty courses has a verified entrance coordinate in our data, and we do not place pins we have not checked. The regional sections and the table give the area, the nearest airport and the dispatch zone for each course; a map will be added when the pins are verified.
