Vacation Rental Airport Transfers in the Dominican Republic
Vacation rental airport transfers in the Dominican Republic work differently from resort arrivals, and the difference starts the moment you land. There is no hotel name on your reservation, no bell desk expecting you and no resort representative holding a clipboard by the exit. There is a street address, sometimes a community gate, sometimes a host who needs to know when you will arrive. Transekur has driven private arrivals in this country since 2012, and we take you to the door of the villa, apartment or house you rented — not to the nearest landmark. Your flight is monitored, so the pickup follows your real arrival time rather than the time printed on your ticket, and the confirmed meeting point inside the terminal arrives before you travel, together with your chauffeur's details. Travelers rank Transekur #1 for transportation in the Dominican Republic on Tripadvisor.
Why a rental arrival is not a resort arrival
A resort arrival is a solved problem: the property is a landmark, the entrance is signposted, and staff are waiting on the other side of the barrier. A rental arrival asks more of the driver. The destination is a number on a street, or a building inside a residential community, or a house at the end of a lane that a mapping app will happily mislabel. Check-in may depend on a host who is not on site. Nobody at the destination is tracking your flight.
That is the gap we plan around. Before you travel we hold your exact address, the community or building name, the name on the guard post if there is one, your host's contact details if you give them to us, and your flight number. The route is checked before the day, not improvised at the roadside with a guest in the back seat at midnight.
What we need from you when you book
- The exact street address, as your rental listing gives it, including house or apartment number.
- The community, condominium or building name — in this country the community name often gets a vehicle through the gate faster than the street name does.
- The name your host registered with the guard post, if the rental sits inside a gated community. Many gates admit visitors only against a name on their list.
- Your host's phone or messaging contact, if you are happy to share it. It is used only if the gate or the door needs confirming on the day.
- Your flight number, so the arrival is monitored and the pickup moves with the aircraft.
- How many travelers and how many bags, so the vehicle class fits before it is dispatched.
Our booking form accepts any address that exists in Google Places, so a rental address is entered the same way a hotel would be. There is nothing to explain in a separate email and nothing to arrange by phone.

Gated communities, guard posts and private lanes
A large share of the country's rental stock sits behind a barrier: condominium towers on the south coast, villa communities around the eastern resorts, hillside developments on the north coast and in Samaná. Each gate has its own habit. Some want the guest name, some want the host's name, some want the property number, some want all three. Our chauffeurs drive these entrances routinely and carry the details you gave us at booking, which is why the details matter more than they seem to when you are filling in a form.
Where the last stretch is an unpaved or steep lane, we say so in advance and assign a vehicle that handles it, rather than stopping short and asking you to walk with your luggage.
Late arrivals and delayed flights
Rental check-in has no night desk. That is exactly when flight monitoring earns its place: your pickup follows the actual landing, so a delayed evening flight does not end with a driver who left and a host who went to bed. If your arrival slips into the small hours, tell us at booking who is opening the door — you, a lockbox, a caretaker, the host — and we plan the drop-off around it instead of discovering it at the gate.
Luggage, grocery stops, and traveling with children
A rental stay usually means more luggage than a resort stay, and often a first grocery run before the first night. Both are handled if you ask when you book: tell us the number and size of bags so the vehicle class is right, and add a supermarket stop to the route rather than paying for a second trip later. Child seats are requested at booking too, with the children's ages, so the correct seat travels in the vehicle that collects you.
Groups, several families and more than one pickup
Rentals attract groups: two families sharing a villa, a wedding party spread across three apartments, a reunion where arrivals land two hours apart. Say so at booking. Depending on the group we plan one larger vehicle, several vehicles arriving together, or staggered pickups against each flight — all against the same address, so nobody is left coordinating drivers from the arrivals hall.

Vacation Rental Transfers — questions
- Can you drive me to a vacation rental instead of a hotel?
- Yes. Our booking form accepts any street address that exists in Google Places, so villas, apartments and private houses are booked exactly like hotels. Add the community or building name and the guard-post name in the notes, and your chauffeur takes you to the door of the property you rented.
- What address details do you need for a rental?
- The exact street address with house or apartment number, the community or building name, the name your host registered at the guard post if the property is gated, and your flight number. Your host's contact is optional and used only if the gate or the door needs confirming on arrival day.
- What happens if my flight is delayed and I arrive late at night?
- Your flight is monitored, so the pickup follows your actual landing rather than the scheduled time. Tell us at booking who opens the property at night — you with a lockbox code, a caretaker or the host — and the drop-off is planned around it. Rentals have no night reception, so this is worth stating in advance.
- Can the driver enter a gated community?
- Usually yes, when we hold the details the gate asks for. Guard posts in the Dominican Republic vary: some admit vehicles against the guest name, some against the host's name, some against the property number. Give us all three at booking and the entry is handled without calls from the barrier.
- Can we stop at a supermarket on the way to the rental?
- Yes, if you add the stop when you book. Rental guests usually want a first grocery run, and it costs less as part of the arrival route than as a separate trip later. Tell us roughly how long you expect to shop so the schedule is realistic.
- Is the vehicle private, and can I cancel?
- Every transfer is private: the vehicle is yours, with no shared shuttle stops on the way to your address. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup. Travelers rank Transekur #1 for transportation in the Dominican Republic on Tripadvisor, with a 5.0 rating from 19,000+ reviews.
