Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana are two resorts of 375 suites each, mirrored around shared grounds on Juanillo Beach: Ziva is the all-ages side, Zilara the adults-only side, and between them sit the Caná water park and the Larimar spa. One address, two completely different transfers. We are the official transportation of both resorts — the only property in the country where we hold that title — so our chauffeurs make this approach every day of the week.

Which side you are checked into decides the vehicle

A Ziva arrival is the most family-heavy movement we run into Cap Cana: children, car seats, a stroller, a water-park week's worth of luggage, and a family that has usually just come off a long flight. A Zilara arrival is typically two adults with two cases. So after your flight number, the half of the complex is the first thing we take on the booking — and if children are travelling, how many and what ages.

Car seats are reserved, never improvised

The correct seat is fitted before your chauffeur leaves for the airport; it cannot be produced at the kerb. Give us the children's ages at booking and the seats are in the vehicle waiting. Count the strollers too. A family of four with a stroller and four cases is a Minivan; a fifth or sixth traveller, or a second stroller, makes it a Full-Size SUV. Grandparents on the same flight are the usual reason a booking moves up to a Mercedes Sprinter, which keeps three generations and all the luggage in one vehicle through the entrance.

Families split across both sides

Parents on the Ziva side with adult children on the Zilara side is an ordinary booking here, and it is still one drive from the airport: we end it at the correct reception for each reservation rather than sending two vehicles. Give us both room bookings and the whole party travels together. It is worth knowing which way the access runs before you divide the group — Zilara guests can use the Ziva side, while the family side stays family-only.

The evenings that need a fixed arrival

Most of the dining on both sides — El Mercado and Tempest Table on the Ziva side, The Pier, Brandos and Journeys on the Zilara side — is walk-in, but the Blind Butcher steakhouse is a reserved, surcharged evening. Parties holding that booking on arrival night want a single direct leg with no stops added, and we plan it that way.

Landing tired, entering easily

The lobbies here are open-air with the ocean framed straight ahead, which is a pleasant first thirty seconds if you are not still sorting out transport. Because we hold the official transportation title for both houses, the controlled community entrance is routine: your chauffeur presents the booking and drives on to the resort's arrival area while you stay seated. On the last day, send the departure flight and we set the pickup against that flight and watch it — useful when a family is packing a water-park week back into four cases.
