Sanctuary Cap Cana is the adults-only Luxury Collection all-inclusive on Playa Juanillo, and it is the one property in Cap Cana where guests photograph the entrance before they reach reception: the resort is built in Spanish colonial style with a castle section, a moat and a drawbridge. Arriving through it is part of the stay. Our job is to hand you over at the main arrival point with the drive already finished, not to make you find your way in.

Three sections, one long façade

The resort is laid out in distinct parts — the original colonial section, the cliffside castle section with its saltwater pool and swim-out suites, and the newer beachfront section. Tell us which one your reservation names. With it, the last approach is a single clean line to the right side of a long property; without it, we deliver to the main arrival point and the resort takes you on. If someone in your party is staying in a private villa elsewhere inside the community, that is the same gate but a different destination, so put the villa address on their booking.

A shoreline of coves, and what it does to bag counts

Playa Juanillo here is coves and rock as much as open sand, and the resort answers that with five pools rather than one beach line. It is a property people settle into: guests tend to arrive with a full week's luggage rather than a weekend bag. Two adults with three or four large cases are a Minivan, not a Small SUV, and telling us the honest case count at booking settles the class before your chauffeur leaves for the airport.

Chapel weddings, and the bags that cannot be folded

Sanctuary has its own chapel and an ocean terrace used for ceremonies, and weddings here tend to be intimate rather than large. That combination produces a very particular arrival pattern: not one coach, but a run of small private vehicles across two or three days, each carrying two adults and something that must not be creased. A dress, a suit bag, a hat box, framed pieces, a case of favours brought from home — say so at booking and we assign a class with the room to carry them flat. Send every flight in the group at once and we keep the reservations linked internally, so dispatch sees the whole sequence and one delayed flight moves one pickup only.

Dinner on the water, and the first evening

Blue Marlin sits out over the water on stilts and Capriccio, the Steakhouse and Wok fill out the à la carte side, with the Love Bar piano lounge in the main lobby. Guests booked into one of those on arrival night want a direct run and no improvised stops, so we plan a single leg. If you would rather come in stocked, ask for a supermarket or pharmacy stop before the Cap Cana entrance and it becomes part of the routing.

Spa mornings on day one

The Sanctuary Spa hydrotherapy circuit is a common first-morning booking, which is a good reason to give us your real flight rather than a rounded arrival time — we watch the flight, so a delay is absorbed by us rather than by your schedule.
