The two brands publish separate names, separate check-in areas and separate guest wristbands, and a vehicle arriving with "La Romana" on the manifest is arriving with half an address.

We book the family side by its full brand name, and we say it out loud on the arrival sheet, because the family reception is where your kids, your strollers and your bags need to be put down — not at the quiet lobby a short walk away.

What we need from your hotel confirmation

Copy the property name exactly as your hotel or travel agent wrote it, including the brand word. If your confirmation is ambiguous, tell us the room type: a family room or a room with a kids' club reference settles it immediately.

Booking references and the guest surname on the reservation are useful too. Resort security on this coast checks arriving vehicles against an expected-arrivals list, and the surname is what that list is sorted by.

Luggage volume, not just headcount

Families travelling to this coast bring more than a headcount suggests. Strollers, travel cots, beach kit and a week of clothes for children do not fold into a suitcase count, and this is the single most common reason a party is quoted a vehicle that turns out to be tight.

Tell us the bags honestly at booking and we size upward rather than at the limit. Child seats are available on request and are the only item on this site with a published price; forward-facing, rear-facing and booster needs should be stated with the child's age, not guessed at the door.

The drive, and what a family should expect of it

It is a highway drive with a rural stretch at the end. There is one comfortable stop point on the way for a family that needs it, and your chauffeur will offer it rather than wait to be asked. Water is in the vehicle.

Arrivals with children, and the two-hour window

Immigration and baggage take longer with children in tow, and that is why the free waiting time after touchdown is two hours rather than a token thirty minutes. Your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with your name on a tablet; nobody is standing outside watching a clock.

If you want the queue itself shortened, VIP Fast Track can be added to the same arrival and handed over at the private exit. With small children on a busy afternoon flight bank it is the part of the arrival most people say they would repeat.

Getting out for a day

Bayahibe village, the Saona and Catalina boat departures, La Romana and Altos de Chavón are all inside a comfortable day from the property. Each is quoted as its own trip from your reception rather than added to the airport run.

Your transfer ends at the door; check-in does not

The most common misreading of a booked transfer is that it completes your arrival. It does not. Your chauffeur delivers you to the family reception; the hotel then runs its own check-in on its own timetable, and on a busy afternoon a family holding three rooms on one reservation can stand at that desk for a while.

Plan for it rather than be surprised by it. Keep passports, the hotel confirmation and the guest surname the reservation is filed under out of the checked luggage and in one hand-carried folder, because that desk asks for them before anything else. Keep a day bag in the cabin too — swimwear, sunscreen, medication and whatever your youngest needs in the next two hours. Rooms on this campus are not always ready at the moment you arrive, and the beach is open long before the key is.
