Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) to Bahia Principe Escape Ambar

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar, formerly Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar, is the adults-only hotel of the Bahia Principe complex at Arena Gorda–Macao, north of Bávaro. The drive from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) is short and simple by Dominican standards.

What is not simple is the address. Several Bahia Principe hotels share this complex, each with its own reception, and they are booked, staffed and checked into separately. A transfer addressed to "Bahia Principe" is addressed to all of them at once.

So this page is about one thing above the road: getting the exact hotel name onto the booking, and keeping it there for the return leg. We serve this property on real reservations, and this is how we run those arrivals.

Typical driving time to the Bávaro–Macao zone, where the resort sits: about 45 min from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) (30 km). These are zone-level figures for the whole Bávaro–Macao dispatch zone rather than one property — every resort on this coast dispatches from the same routing row. Dispatch planning figure from our own zone matrix, and actual times vary with traffic. Driving estimates exclude immigration, baggage claim and hotel check-in.

Why the exact hotel name matters more than the road

The road is a known quantity. The complex is where transfers go wrong, because more than one hotel sits inside it and each keeps its own reception and its own guest list.

An adults-only booking is the clearest case. A guest who wrote "Bahia Principe, Punta Cana" on a transfer form has described a group of hotels, at least one of which is a family hotel and none of which is the one they are checked into. Our dispatchers do not resolve that ambiguity by guessing on the day; they ask for the hotel name before the vehicle is assigned, and the chauffeur confirms the drop-off from what the booking says. We do not publish anything about which entrance is used or how the complex is laid out, because that is not our information to publish.

The former name still appears on paperwork

This hotel was Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar before it was renamed. Older confirmations, agency vouchers and forwarded emails still carry that name.

Both names refer to the same hotel, and either is enough for us as long as it is the name that actually appears on your hotel confirmation. If your paperwork says Luxury Ambar and the booking engine you are using says Escape Ambar, tell us what your confirmation says and we will match it. What does not help is a transfer booked to a third variation assembled from memory: a name we can trace to a confirmation is worth more than a tidier one we cannot.

An adults-only arrival is a small-party arrival

Adults-only hotels change the shape of the booking. Parties are usually couples or small groups of friends, and the luggage is what decides the vehicle.

Every class we operate carries a fixed passenger and suitcase capacity, and a couple travelling with golf bags or a month of luggage is not a two-suitcase booking. We would rather size the vehicle upward while you are booking than discover the problem at the curb, so tell us the bag count as well as the head count. If your party is arriving on two flights, say so too: we would rather run two timed pickups than have one group wait an hour in the arrivals hall for the other.

Give us the hotel name, then the flight

Two fields decide this arrival: the exact hotel name you are checked into, and the name your reservation is held under. Add your flight and party size and we confirm a private vehicle and a drop-off from those.

Where we meet you inside Punta Cana Airport (PUJ)

We monitor every inbound flight, and your chauffeur waits up to two hours after landing at no extra charge, so a slow immigration hall costs you nothing.

The meeting point is confirmed to you in writing before you travel, so nobody lands and starts scanning a crowd for a sign. If you would rather have the indoor half handled too, a VIP fast track meets arriving passengers before the immigration queue and moves the party through as a unit — worth it on any arrival at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), and worth more when the flight lands with several others.

The drive up to Arena Gorda

Arena Gorda–Macao is the stretch of coast north of Bávaro, and the hotel sits inside the Bahia Principe complex there. The figure published above is the one our dispatch system uses for the whole zone.

It is a planning number, not a promise, and it says nothing about the part of the day you actually feel: immigration, the baggage carousel and how many aircraft landed in the same bank as yours. That is why the pickup is timed off your flight rather than off a clock. For everything else about this coast, the Bávaro destination guide is the page to read.

The return leg is confirmed the same way

Departures fail for the same reason arrivals do: a pickup arranged for a complex rather than for a hotel.

We agree the departure pickup with you in advance and hold it against the same hotel name your arrival was booked under, so the vehicle is waiting where you are actually staying. The departure time is set from your flight and the check-in window your airline publishes, not from the drive time alone. A separate leg during the stay — one person flying home early, a run to another address — is booked as its own transfer with its own confirmed pickup, for the same reason.

What we will and will not tell you about the hotel

We are a ground transport company. What we can speak to is the arrival: the flight, the vehicle, the waiting time, the drop-off and the return.

What the hotel includes, what its adults-only policy covers, whether a room is ready early — that belongs to Bahia Principe, and we will not guess at it on your behalf. Our own terms are ours to state: transfers are private rather than shared, child seats are added when you request them at booking, and cancellations are refunded in full fourteen or more days before pickup, partially refunded or credited for a year inside that window, and not refunded inside forty-eight hours.

How we confirm the arrival with you before you fly

Everything about the pickup is settled in writing before you leave home: the flight we are tracking, the meeting point inside the terminal, the vehicle class assigned to your booking and the resort name we are delivering to.

That written confirmation is deliberate. It gives you something to check against your own airline paperwork a week out, when a wrong flight number or a mistyped resort name is a two-minute correction rather than a problem in the arrivals hall. It also means nobody has to explain the booking at the kerb, because the chauffeur is working from the same details you already hold. If anything changes after we confirm, a rebooked flight, an extra passenger, one more bag than you counted on, reply to that confirmation and we adjust the booking. We would rather revise a detail twice in the week before travel than find a mismatch on the day, and late corrections are not an inconvenience to us. They are the reason the confirmation is sent in that form at all.

Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) to Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: what guests ask

How long does the transfer from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) take?
The zone figure published above this FAQ is the one our dispatch uses for the Bávaro–Macao coast. It varies with traffic and excludes immigration, baggage claim and hotel check-in.
My confirmation says Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar. Is that this hotel?
Yes. Escape Ambar is the current name and Luxury Ambar is the former one. Book the transfer with the name that appears on your hotel confirmation and tell us if the two differ.
Why do you ask which hotel in the complex I am staying at?
Because more than one Bahia Principe hotel shares this complex and each has its own reception. The exact hotel name and your reservation name are what let the chauffeur confirm the right drop-off.
Do you already serve this hotel?
Yes. We have driven guests to Bahia Principe Escape Ambar on real reservations within the last twelve months, so the arrival is known to dispatch rather than looked up on the day.
What happens if my flight is late?
We track every inbound flight and your chauffeur waits up to two hours after landing at no extra charge. The meeting point is confirmed in writing before you travel.

One complex, several hotels, one correct booking

We meet your flight at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) and take you to Bahia Principe Escape Ambar by name — not to whichever hotel in the complex the address happens to resolve to.
