What's the Deal With the QR Code for the Dominican Republic?
The Dominican QR code is what the free government eTicket form generates. Here is what it is for, where to get it, and what happens after immigration.

The code is an output, not a product
This trips up a lot of travellers: you do not apply for a QR code. You complete the Dominican eTicket — the online replacement for the old paper immigration and customs cards — and the system generates a QR code for you. Save it to your phone, or print it if you prefer paper.
At the airport, an officer scans it. That is the whole interaction.
Where it comes from
Only from eticket.migracion.gob.do. The official domain ends in gob.do.
We do not reproduce the form's screens here. The requirements have changed more than once since the digital form was introduced, and a walkthrough written to an old version would have you hunting for fields that are no longer there. Open the official portal and follow what it asks on the day.
The paid-copy problem
Almost as soon as the QR code became a requirement, sites appeared selling it. They are not the government and the "service" they charge for is free. Two things to check before typing anything: the domain must end in gob.do, and there must be no payment step. If either fails, close the tab.
What to have ready
Passports for everyone travelling, the airline reservation and locator code, and the address where you are staying. That is what the form is built around, whichever version of it you meet.
Once you are through
The QR code ends at passport control. From there, the difference between a smooth arrival and a stressful one is whether transport was arranged before you flew.
We monitor your flight from the number you give us at booking, so the pickup follows your real arrival time. Your chauffeur is inside the arrivals hall with a tablet showing your name, helps with the luggage, and there is cold bottled water in the vehicle. Two hours of free waiting time after landing covers a slow queue. Then it is one direct drive to your resort or villa.
Book the Punta Cana airport (PUJ) transfer in advance, and consider VIP Fast Track if you would rather not queue at all.
