The QR code (e-ticket) is the digital way of completing the immigration and customs form before entering or leaving Dominican territory. Since September 2021, the immigration authorities replaced all paper forms with this digital format, and it remains in use today.
How It Works
What you complete is a form on the Dominican immigration authority's official website, which then generates a QR code. You show that QR code at passport control to enter or exit the country.
The form also includes your customs declaration. You can complete it once you have your ticket number and final itinerary ready. With your itinerary for both arrival and departure, you can log on to the immigration website and complete both your entry and exit forms.
It's Free — Don't Pay for It
There are websites that charge tourists to complete the QR code. Don't pay — the e-ticket is a free service provided by the Dominican government. You don't need to pay anything.
A Tip Before You Start
Have your passport, itinerary, and localizer at hand before you begin, so you can fill in the fields quickly without wasting time.
And along with your e-ticket, make sure you book your transportation before you arrive in the Dominican Republic.
